چکیده

By using the gridded 0.25° × observation dataset of CN05.1 provided by China Meteorological Administration, this study investigates variations in nine extreme precipitation indices over Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) from 1961 to 2018. Based on trends and interannual variations, kinds are classified into four categories: category 1 includes very wet days (R95P), extremely (R99P), maximum 1-day amount (RX1day), 5-day (RX5day). Category 2 is number heavy (R10day), (R20day), simple daily intensity index (SDII). Categories 3 4 consecutive (CWDday) dry (CDDday), respectively. For 1, abrupt change point fewer more values occurs 1991 summer. Three points, 1972 2009 1994, occur spring. 2, 1993 1965 2010 1990, Annually seasonally, changes early 2010s for CWDday which clearly increase CDDday decrease. In addition, exhibit points 1966 1983 The these events have significant periodic oscillations 3–5 years, quasi-8 or 8–14 years. During periods 1961–1994, 1995–2009, 2010–2018, annual most seasonal R95P, R99P, R10day, R20day, SDII consistent with those precipitation. latter period increasing compared former stage. RX1day, RX5day, CWDday, their own characteristics.

A Note on Income Convergence among China, Hong Kong and Macao

Hong Kong and Macao were re-united with China in the late 1990s as two special administrative regions (SARs). Over the last half century, they were China’s good examples of economic development, windows of openness and investors. However, due to historical reasons, China lagged far behind Hong Kong and Macao in terms of per capita incomes. The income gaps widened before China’s economic reforms...

Confined groundwater near the rockhead in igneous rocks in the Mid-Levels area, Hong Kong, China

It is customary in Hong Kong to assume that the hydraulic conductivity of weathered igneous rocks decreases with depth or as the rock mass becomes less weathered. Such a hydraulic conductivity pattern can only lead to an unconfined aquifer. This paper presents a case study in the regions in and around the Mid-Levels area in Hong Kong regarding a possible relatively high hydraulic conductivity (...

Trends in Precipitation Extremes over India

One of the most significant consequences of global warming due to increase in greenhouse gases would be an increase in magnitude and frequency of extreme precipitation events. In the present study the trends in extreme rainfall indices for the period 1901-2000 were examined for 100 stations over India. The trends for the southwest monsoon season and annual period were calculated separately. The...
